IgM and IgG antibodies against dengue virus
Identifies
Acute or past dengue infection; IgM indicates recent infection, IgG indicates past exposure or immunity
What is the Dengue IgM/IgG Test?
Dengue IgM and IgG antibody tests detect the immune response to dengue infection. IgM appears around day 5 of fever and indicates a current or recent infection. IgG indicates a past infection or secondary dengue (which can be more severe). Together with NS1, they provide a complete dengue diagnostic picture.
Why Should You Take This Test?
Dengue is endemic in tropical regions. Early confirmation helps guide fluid management and avoid NSAIDs that can worsen bleeding risk.
Who Should Get Tested?
Fever Beyond Day 5
IgM/IgG are most reliable after 5 days of fever.
NS1-Negative with Dengue Suspicion
Antibody tests may be positive when NS1 turns negative.
Previous Dengue History
IgG indicates past infection and secondary dengue risk.
